Have your pride take away your blessings?
This is a very simple question that you might find difficult to answer. Elisha simple command to Na’aman was, “Go to the River Jordan and wash seven times and you will be healed.” Pride would have denied him that blessing, had not his servant persuaded him to obey. By obeying he witnessed the mighty hand of God. Full of awe he proclaimed in 2kings 4:15, “Now I know that there is no God in all the earth except in Israel!”
Today Jesus in Lk 4:25-27, reminds us that at the time of Elisha there are many lepers, but only Na’aman received healing and at the time of Elijah, there are many widows, but Elijah was sent to the widow at Zar’ephath. Leprosy compel Na’aman to abandon his prejudice to seek God for healing.
Naaman asked for healing and he received, the widow gave to God all she had in prayer that she may receive more. Their request were granted to them. Your request will also be granted by God if you seek, pray and trust in him. Don’t lose your faith.
You cannot receive from God if you do not ask him. Don’t let pride obscure your mind from longing for God. Call on him with sincere heart and he will answer you. Worship him in Spirit and truth and He will never abandon you in time of trouble. He is looking and waiting for you to acknowledge Him as your God.
Can we Pray?
Father, Help me to cast aside my pride and come to you in sincerity and truth. I have trusted in my own strength, but I can do nothing without your assistance Oh Lord. Touch my heart and transform me. Into your hands I trust my worries and commend my spirit. Amen
